HVLR Series High-Voltage Resistor

RESI's HVLR series leaded resistors undergo 100% inspection in high voltage test before delivery

Image of RESI's HVLR Series High-Voltage ResistorRESI’s HVLR series has value ranges of 1 KΩ to 1 GΩ, tight tolerance up to ±0.1%, maximum working voltages reaching 48 KV, good voltage coefficient of resistance (VCR) performance, and is the key parameter of a high-voltage resistor. Currently, mainstream high-voltage resistors are mainly thick-film technology. The resistance changes in high-voltage working conditions because thick-film resistors are made of a mixture of conductive and non-conductive resistive elements. Under high voltage conditions, the non-conductive dielectric is activated to form a parallel resistor, causing the resistance value to change in a small direction as the voltage increases. RESI develops and produces specific thick film resistor pastes by mixing conductive phases, glass phases, and organic carriers in proportion in a three-roll mill. The moisture barrier, thus reinforced, ensures isolation from the effects of external moisture on the thick film layer.

Due to the HVLR series’ use in medical applications, such as AEDs, requiring a 0% failure under high-voltage working conditions, RESI conducts a number of tests before delivery to guarantee 100% qualification, including high-voltage testing. High-voltage, high-resistance resistors with high withstand voltage strength and high working voltage are generally used to prevent electric breakdown. The withstand voltage value here is distinguished from the working voltage, not calculated by Ohm's law, but by the unit power of the resistor surface area and body material. This issue should be paid more attention by engineers when selecting a high-voltage resistor. This series is suited for medical instruments (AED, MRI, CT, and more), high-voltage power supplies, instrumentation, power equipment, and the military and aerospace industries.
