Panasonic’s Grid-EYE® is an 8 x 8 (64) pixel infrared array sensor. This sensor offers digital output (I2C) for thermal presence, direction, and temperature values. The built-in lens includes a 60-degree viewing angle. The Grid-EYE features compact SMD design using MEMS thermopile technology.
Applications include: digital signage, security, lighting control, kiosk/ATM, medical imaging, automatic doors, thermal mapping, people counting, robotics, and more.
Panasonic's infrared array sensor is a thermopile-type infrared sensor which detects quantity of infrared ray. These high precision sensors, based on advanced MEMS technology, have temperature detection, achieved on a two-dimensional area, digital output, and have a miniature SMD package.
New Product Introduction: Grid-EYE Infrared Array Sensors
Panasonic expands its Grid-EYE infrared array sensor product line with the addition of the Grid-EYE narrow-angle type, AMG8854M01. This Grid-EYE narrow angle sensor offers a field of view of 35.6° allowing the Grid-EYE Sensor to focus on closer objects with enough pixels to be able to identify and measure those objects.
New Product Introduction: Grid-EYE® Infrared Array Sensor, Narrow Angle Type
Panasonic announces the availability of the Grid-EYE infrared array sensor unit. The Grid-EYE unit combines four Grid-EYE infrared array sensors to increase the detection area up to 3.8 m2. The Grid-EYE unit comes preloaded with firmware capable of detection and counting up to eight people within an area, and while they are in this area it can track their direction of movement. The sensor transmits this information via RS485 using Modbus protocol.

Panasonic's AMG8834 Evaluation Board features TrackMe Software for its Grid-EYE Infrared Array Sensor and integrates a ”nanopower” Bluetooth Smart module and a microcontroller. The AMG8834EVAL Kit is intended for prototyping the Grid-EYE Sensor which is a 64 pixel IR camera in a surface mount package measuring 11.6mm x 8mm x 4.3mm, which integrates the MEMS Sensor, lens and I2C interface.

Panasonic introduces the “Wide Field of View” PIR motion sensor line extension to the existing EKMB and EKMC series lineups. Named for their unique capabilities, these PIR sensors have a flat and rectangular shape which improves detection in a single axis up to 150 degrees. Also, since the detection zones are overlapping, this sensor can now detect motion directly approaching the sensor. Available in white, black, and pearl white.

Panasonic’s Pressure Sensors offer high accuracy, compact size and are available with and without amplifier. Pressure ratings range from -100 to 1,000kPa. Panasonic’s laser type Particulate Matter sensor is an addition to its already broad range of specialty sensor solutions. It is comprised of an on-board microprocessor, micro-fan, and laser diode. This sensor has been programmed so that the fan will operate based on the amount of particle dust surrounding the laser diode so that overall lifespan or usefulness of the sensor can be extended much longer than its average commercially available equivalent.
Featuring a very small footprint of 37 mm x 37 mm x 12 mm, the Panasonic SN-GC Series laser type PM sensor can be used to detect a wide variety of PM including, but not limited to, dust, fly ash, soot, smoke, aerosols, fumes, mists and condensing vapors, solid fuels, construction materials, cooking/smoking of plant matter, fireplaces and furnaces, house/forest fires, waste incineration, and much more.
New Product Introduction: Laser Type Particulate Matter (PM) Sensor SN-GC Series
Panasonic’s intelligent sensors are designed to effectively provide preventative maintenance and remote monitoring over the IO-link network. This provides on-sensor judgments such as normal, error, caution, and alarm states. These sensors also provide a means to quickly and remotely reconfigure sensor settings and operations when warranted.
Panasonic’s DP-0 pressure sensor series has been redesigned to improve usability. The unit’s body is now black to make the LCD easier to see. The body has a nearly 41% depth savings compared to the DP-100 series. This will ease installation into more narrow spaces. With the new design, there is also a weight savings of 38% when compared to the previous series. This savings means minimal load when the unit is mounted on a moving part, such as a robotic arm. Finally, these units are simple and easy to operate.
Panasonic’s incredibly thin EX-Z sensors are an ideal solution, over conventional fiber sensor heads, for tight-fitting applications. The EX-Z sensors are offered in two configurations: front sensing and side sensing, with the latter best suited for use in the narrowest of spaces. Despite the extremely small size, these robust sensors can sense an object as small as 0.3 mm without the need for an optional slit mask and both configurations can sense a 1.0 mm object from as far as 500 mm. The EX-Z series sensors are IP67 rated making them suitable for applications susceptible to splashing and a host of others, such as the detection of parts in a parts feeder, the detection of the presence or absence of a test tube tray, and the detection of LED leads.
