E3AS-F Series Photoelectric Sensors

Omron’s E3AS-F photoelectric sensors improve part detection, particularly in situations where part features change using time of flight (TOF) technology. Changing part colors, odd contours, and varying degrees of reflectivity can present challenges for traditional triangulation detection methods. TOF technology detects objects based on the distance between the object and the sensor only, so it is not subject to changes in color or reflectivity. In addition to TOF technology, E3AS-F sensors have an exceptional sensing range of 1.5 M in a compact metal or plastic body size. The combination of TOF, long sensing distance, and compact size make the sensor suitable for a broad range of applications and space-constrained locations. To address the variety of different user scenarios, Omron has made the sensor environmentally robust with IP67, IP69K, IP67G, Ecolab, and a proprietary lens coating to prevent ingress and buildup of liquid or particulate debris to ensure that the sensor operates with fewer lens cleanings and reduced downtime. The E3AS-F is IIoT capable with IO-Link, which provides configuration functionality as well as output monitoring functionality. Output monitoring in the E3AS-F models takes the form of a distance output allowing users to roughly measure the distance of an object. The combination of TOF technology, long sensing distance, environmental protection, and IO-Link capabilities address a broad range of varying part detection scenarios as well as problem applications.
