New Scale Technologies’ M3-RS-U2-4.5-360 compact rotary positioning module with built-in controller provides continuous 360° rotation with absolute position feedback. The closed-loop position resolution is better than 0.022 degrees.

The M3-RS-U2 module has a compact housing that measures 11.75 mm x 21.9 mm x 16 mm. This footprint includes all drive electronics and firmware. With no need for an external controller, this smart stage enables the smallest system size and is ideal for handheld and portable instruments.

The built-in controller also simplifies system integration for faster time to market. Simply provide high-level digital motion commands directly to the smart stage using UART, SPI, I²C, or analog servo interface.

The smart stage needs only 3.3 V_DC and uses approximately 750 mW when moving, so it can be powered by USB or standard batteries. The integrated piezo motor holds position without using power.

The M3-RS-U2 is ideal for mounting mirrors, gratings, and filters in photonics applications.

Developer’s kits include a USB adapter for PC control and New Scale Pathway™ software for evaluation and system development.
