Molex/Alien Technology RFID Readers ALR-F800-X, ALR-F800, and ALR-9650

Molex's ALR-F800-X is a transformational product created by the merging of two core capabilities present in any solution. It is an ALR-F800 based 4-port enterprise-class UHF passive reader as well as an edge service controller or manager that supports other readers in a network, providing a complete Industry 4.0 solution. By transforming the reader into both a middleware host and an application host, multiple layers of complexity and cost are eliminated. Processing data elements at the source increases the value of the data exponentially because individual read points throughout a vast enterprise can be examined and evaluated in real time. This adds to the richness and quality of the big data analytics scenarios emerging in every area of business life.

ALR-F800 providers the highest transmit power of any reader when operating Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) power while simultaneously allowing seamless switching between DC power and PoE power. This enables a choice of the most cost-effective source for a user's application and removes the need to determine the power source in order to obtain optimal reader performance.

ALR-F800 utilizes DSA (dynamic self-adapting), which monitors the RF environment in real-time and manipulates several parameters, filters, and tuning metrics providing real-time smart throttling, optimizing reader behavior to maximize the tags read. The reader is extensible via industry-standard I/O, including micro-SD cards (for adding memory) and USB (for accessing wireless I/O such as Wi-Fi and cellular modems). Most readers are programmable, but this reader also has the ability for the RF subsystem to be updated via firmware. These updates help protect the ALR-F800 from obsolescence.

The ALR-9650 takes up little space. At only 9 square inches, it uses less than half the real-estate of a typical reader and antenna system. Combined with the elimination of messy cables for antennas and power, the ALR-9650 easily fits into a variety of tight spaces and enables neat and tidy placement when it is visible to consumers or the general public.
