METZ CONNECT's ASM connector family, the ASM01 and the ASM02, offers a surface-mount spring contact solution supplied on tape and reel which gives customers the possibility to "push fit" through-hole components directly onto a PCB. Thanks to the design of the ASM01 and ASM02 and its packaging, the user can place through-hole components on both sides of the PCB and thus maximize the limited space that is often available.
The ASM01 or ASM02 is placed on the PCB automatically along with the other SMT components. Once the PCB has passed through the reflow oven, the remaining through-hole components can now "push-fit" onto the spring contacts through an automated or manual process. As a result, production efficiencies are created by removing hand soldering, and because of the high-quality contact between the component and the ASM connector, PCB rework is eliminated in most cases.
