MAX34417 Four-Channel Current and Voltage Monitor

Analog Devices' MAX34417 four-channel power accumulator for use in a variety of applications

Image of Analog Devices' MAX34417 Four-Channel Current and Voltage Monitor Analog Devices' MAX34417 is a four-channel power accumulator used to determine the power consumption of portable devices. This current and voltage monitor has an accurate measurement of power from its very wide dynamic range (20,000:1). The MAX34417 is configured and monitored with a standard I2C/SMBus serial interface. The unidirectional current sensor offers precision high-side operation with a low full-scale sense voltage. The device automatically collects the current-sense and voltage samples and then multiplies those values to obtain a power value it then accumulates. Upon a command from the host, the device transfers the accumulated power samples, as well as the accumulation count, to a set of registers accessible by the host. This transfer occurs without missing a sample and allows the host to retrieve the data not in real-time, but at any time interval. The MAX34417 is available in a 16-pin WLP package and covers the temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, making it ideal for portable, handheld devices.
