M16 AISG Circular Cable-Mount Connectors

The radically simplified mounting of Lumberg’s 360° shielded screw-type circular connector is their response to assembly requirements in the field and of manufacturers targeting high volumes for pre-assembly. A highly innovative shielding mechanism on the inside of the casing (registered for patent approval) makes it possible to create the entire connector from fewer individual parts, facilitating a much faster assembly process when soldering or crimping the connector to the cable.

The assembly quality is improved by eliminating typical assembly errors, which can impact the water tightness immensely. Compared to conventional circular connectors, assembly can be completed in 50% of the time previously needed. In addition to resistance to salt, dust, and UV rays, a patented unique ratchet feature fitted into the metal casing offers tactile feedback to the installer and long-term vibration protection.

AISG specification C485 calls for IP68 protection and compliance with IEC 61076-2-106 of the connector's 05-3 and 08-1 pin configuration. The circular connector even caters to the more stringent requirements for larger cable diameters by holding up to 10 mm cables.

Designed for signal and load currents of up to 5 A and a rated voltage of up to 100 V_AC with pollution degree 1, the connector is ideal for use in 4G and 5G antenna control. It guarantees a smooth electrical connection between base stations on both ends of remote electric tilt (RET) antenna cables and associated devices such as bias tees, tower-mounted amplifiers (TMAs), or surge protection as typical fields of application for which Lumberg circular connectors have a proven track record in mobile network infrastructures as well as many other industries. The connector also simplifies mounting for all industrial and medical applications requiring shielded cables. Additional numbers of pins will gradually become available in the future.
