iSYS-5005 K-Band Radar System for Security Applications

InnoSenT's 24 GHz iSYS-5005 radar system offers advanced technology for short-range motion detection. It is part of the iSYS-50xx product series from InnoSenT which is tailored for security applications. The 50xx series offers detailed object information and innovative configurability for optimal detection performance.

The sensor is a MIMO radar, meaning it offers higher resolution and more functionality than other motion detectors. The system reliably detects multiple objects and separates them via three dimensions (speed, range and angle resolution). This enables the exact localization (X and Y coordinates) of people or vehicles in the detection area. Due to enhanced radar tracking, it is possible to monitor the movement path. Additionally, the system via a signal processing unit resolves individual radar detections to facilitate tracking. The system simultaneously captures the speed, distance, angle, position and direction of movement. The data update rate is every 75 ms. Precise object data is the basis for reliable area security monitoring.

The system outputs the processed information as an object list via a UART interface. The field of view (±75° in azimuth / ±30° in elevation) maximizes a wide coverage area. The detection range for tracking movements is up to 20 meters and includes a speed range from 0.4 km/h to 27.5 km/h.

The system offers various configuration options to the user. Among many options, the sensitivity threshold can be regulated to filter out small animals. By using further filter options (e.g. atmospheric wind), the detection results can be refined. The end-user can also compensate for vehicle or pedestrian traffic. The user may define the alarm and ignore zones in order to focus or occlude certain areas during detection. The increased functionality increases efficacy and reduces false detections. The technical features and customization options for the iSYS-5005 improve integration into end applications.

Radar technology works irrespective of atmospheric obscuration or light conditions. The iSYS-5005 is suitable for indoor and outdoor usage and has a reduced maintenance footprint. The product can also be combined with other technology (e.g. cameras) in operation in order to augment functionality or to direct them as desired.

The device is certified according to ETSI and FCC and can be used worldwide pursuant to the 24 GHz frequency band.

The system is part of the iSYS-50xx series from InnoSenT. It complements the already existing systems for area surveillance as a short-range radar option. An evaluation kit has an additional USB interface for simplified connection and testing. Using the InnoSenT GUI, users can configure and evaluate the system.
