IMD-2000 Radar Sensor

InnoSenT’s IMD-2000 sensor offers reliable radar detection of movements in real time. With FSK modulation, it determines the velocity, the direction of movement, and the distance. The IMD-2000 is used as a classic motion detector with the added functionality of distance measurement of objects. The radar detects moving objects in the detection area.

The IMD-2000 24 GHz radar sensor with built-in signal processing simplifies radar integration and reduces development costs. The sensor outputs the processed radar raw data as a target list via a UART interface. The customer can process this information and use it as an individual trigger function for the envisioned application. The detections can be configured and filtered using a graphical user interface (GUI). The integrator has the choice of configuring threshold values for velocity, range, and signal strength. The configuration possibilities enable filtering objects that are further away (e.g., passers-by), too fast, or have different signal strengths from humans (e.g., passing cars, trains). This reduces the surge of data and enables application efficiency since the sensor only outputs relevant targets.

For exact precision, the IMD-2000 determines an object's estimated time of arrival (ETA) at the antenna. This enables focused control on-demand of the application. For example, with a motion sensor on an electric door, the door opens and closes based upon the ETA, which can compensate for the velocity and distance of an object. The radar distinguishes between a target’s arrival and departure.
