Infineon Technologies advanced solid state isolators (SSIs) are developed as a core part of state-of-the-art solid state relays that replace electromechanical relays (EMRs) and photovoltaic switches. Solid state isolators provide numerous benefits over EMRs, including increased reliability and protection.
Infineons solid state isolators provide powerful energy transmission over a galvanic isolation barrier, eliminating the need for an isolated power supply to drive gates of MOS-controlled power transistors (CoolMOS™, OptiMOS™, TRENCHSTOP™ IGBT, or CoolSiC™). No dedicated voltage supply is required on the output to drive the power transistor. Control functions such as fast turn-on/turn-off, overcurrent, and overtemperature protection are included to build up solid-state relays easily and safely.
The EVAL-iSSI30R11H and EVAL-iSSI30R12H evaluation boards are intended for quickly evaluating the product features of and beginning design work with Infineons solid state isolators in an application circuit. The EVAL-iSSI30R11H features the iSSI30R11H and two CoolMOS IPQC60R010S7 MOSFETs, and the EVAL-iSSI30R12H features the iSSI30R12H and two CoolMOS IPT60T022S7 MOSFETs, each in an AC switch configuration.
The REFSSRACDC2ATOBO1 kit allows users to evaluate AC- and DC-type solid-state relays supporting 250 VAC or 350 VDC operation and 2 A nominal current in a compact form factor. The board features integrated overcurrent and overtemperature protection mechanisms, as well as a CoolMOS S7T SJ MOSFET with an integrated temperature sensor. A termination block for trouble-free prototyping can be removed easily from the production-ready PCB layout.
