EiceDRIVER™ Enhanced F3 (1ED332x) Isolated Gate Driver ICs

Infineon Technologies EiceDRIVER Enhanced F3 (1ED332x) family is a series of high-performance, single-channel isolated drivers designed to provide reliable and efficient control of power devices. These drivers are packaged in a DSO-16 wide body package and are capable of handling high current levels of up to 8.5 A. They offer integrated protection capabilities, including short circuit protection, active Miller clamp, and active shutdown, helping to prevent damage to the power devices and ensure reliable operation in demanding applications.

The EiceDRIVER Enhanced F3 family of drivers are designed to work with a wide range of power devices, including 600 V, 650 V, 1200 V, 1700 V, and 2300 V IGBTs, as well as silicon and silicon carbide MOSFETs. They provide a typical output current of up to +6 A/-8.5 A, making them suitable for a variety of applications. Logic pins are 3.3 V and 5 V CMOS-compatible, allowing for direct connection to a microcontroller to simplify the design process and reduce the need for additional components. Data transfer across the galvanic isolation barrier is enabled by Infineon coreless transformer (CT) technology, providing a reliable and efficient means of communicating between the driver and the microcontroller while maintaining the necessary isolation for safe operation.

The EVAL-1ED3321MC12N evaluation board for EiceDRIVER F3 Enhanced gate drivers is in half-bridge configuration for easy evaluation of short-circuit protection, active Miller clamp, and soft-off features of the 1ED3321MC12N. The driver IC implements separate source/sink outputs, operates over a wide supply voltage range (either unipolar or bipolar), and has tight part-to-part propagation delay matching. The board comes preassembled with two TRENCHSTOP™ IGBT IKW40N120H3 devices, but switches can be substituted with any other desired switches, such as Infineon IGBTs, CoolSiC™, or CoolMOS™ transistors. This board is best suited for double-pulse testing.
