BGT60UTR11AIP 60 GHz FMCW Radar Sensor

Infineon Technologies XENXIV™ BGT60UTR11AIP 60 GHz FMCW radar sensor is optimized for low power consumption and system cost optimization. The compact size of 4.05 mm x 4.05 mm x 0.86 mm makes the sensor suitable for integrating into extremely small devices. The MMIC is manufactured using Infineon B11 SiGe BiCMOS technology, ensuring excellent RF performance. The 5.6 GHz ultra-wide bandwidth enables FMCW operations with extremely high resolution. The detection of sub-mm movement ensures an extremely sensitive presence and motion detection range of up to 15 m, precise range measurements, 1D gestures, and vital sign measurements including breathing rate and heart rate.

The sensor features a 50 MHz digital SPI interface for configuration and data transferring, while an integrated finite state machine (FSM) enables real-time data acquisition without requiring constant interaction with the processor. With three power modes, users have the flexibility to optimize between performance and power consumption. The sub-mA average current consumption makes the BGT60UTR11AIP suitable for battery-powered devices.

Development kits

The following development boards are available to evaluate and prototype with the BGT60UTR11AIP 60 GHz FMCW radar sensor:

• The DEMO BGT60UTR11AIP consists of a radar baseboard MCU7 and a BGT60UTR11AIP radar shield. It is designed for the initial evaluation of product features, fast prototyping, and radar algorithm development
• The BGT60UTR11AIP connected sensor kit (CSK) supports customers in testing sensor-driven IoT products and radar use cases as well as in prototyping. It offers a real-time sensor evaluation with custom configurations and cloud- and radar-based solution output visualization. The CSK comes with a rapid IoT connect developer kit (CYSBSYSKIT-DEV-01) and an XENSIV BGT60UTR11AIP wing (EVAL_60UTR11_WING). The CYSBSYS-RP01 rapid IoT connect system-on-module (SoM) includes a PSOC™ 6 MCU, an AIROC™ CYW43012 single-chip radio, onboard crystals, oscillators, chip antenna, and passive components, making it the perfect choice for embedded and cloud-based applications

Infineon offers an all-in-one software platform in the radar development kit (RDK), which enables the evaluation of Infineon XENSIV radar sensors using the intuitive radar fusion GUI or by interfacing directly with C, C++, Python, and Matlab. Eclipse IDE for Modus Toolbox™ is also available as a comprehensive development environment for creating, debugging, and testing microcontroller-based applications.
