FTDI's USB bridge delivers four independent channels and fully supports USB Type-C® and power delivery (PD)
FTDI's FT4233HP is a high-speed USB device with a controller IC that fully supports the USB Type-C and PD standards, enabling support for power negotiation with the ability to sink or source current to a USB host device. The USB bridge function delivers four independent channels that are compatible with the FT4232H quad high-speed USB to multipurpose UART/MPSSE solution.

- Supports the PD specification Rev 3.0
- Port 1 mode configuration for sink or dual-role
- Port 2 works as a sink supporting charge through to port 1
- Support 5 V, 3 A; 9 V, 3 A; 12 V, 3 A; 15 V, 3 A; and 20 V, 3 A PDOs as a sink or source
- Type-C/PD physical layer protocol
- PD policy engine using a 32-bit RISC controller with 8 kB data RAM and 48 kB code ROM
- PD mode configuration through external EEPROM
- Options to use an external MCU controlling PD policy through the I2C interface
- USB to quad serial ports with a variety of configurations
- Entire USB protocol handled on the chip (no USB specific firmware programming required)
- USB 2.0 high-speed (480 Mb/s) and full-speed (12 Mb/s) compatible
- Two multi-protocol synchronous serial engines (MPSSE) on channel A and channel B:
- Simplify synchronous serial protocol (USB to JTAG, I2C, SPI, or bit-bang) design
- Independent Baud rate generators
- RS232/RS422/RS485 UART transfer data rate up to 12M baud (RS232 data rate limited by an external level shifter)
- FTDI’s royalty-free virtual com port (VCP) and direct (D2XX) drivers eliminate the requirement for USB driver development in most cases
