Front Light Panel for Sharp Reflective Displays (LCD 2.0)

Azumo's front light panel offers a way to light the Sharp reflective display in the absence of ambient light. The thin light guide film easily bonds to the front surface of the Sharp display to provide a light that works in sunlight (unlike a backlight) and is 90% more power-efficient than a backlit display. At just 0.05 mm thick, the Azumo film is over 5x thinner than alternative light guides, allowing for an ultrathin display stack.

Azumo LED display lighting is intrinsically safe and compliant with all major industrial regulations. The efficient, off-the-shelf LED can be used without the typical losses from diffusion or occlusions from other elements of the display stack. Backlights lose a lot of light due to its position in the display stack.

With simple I/F and connectivity, this single-LED light panel works with just about any device. And since Azumo's proprietary light mixing region can be curved away from the edge, there's no need for a frame to cover hot spots that are needed with traditional edge lighting, allowing the device to be bezel-free.
