Azumo Monochrome Development Kits with Sharp RLCD

Azumo's reflective LCD (RLCD) and Azumo front light development kits come preloaded with images and graphics so the front light panel is visible in action right away. Software is included to upload and test custom graphics with up to 2 MB of SPI Flash memory. Each unit offers variable brightness for both the LCD and the front light to test the display in different settings via an integrated front light driver, adjustable between 1 mA to 25 mA through software. With a simple USB interface using standard serial drivers, the development kit is ready to use without any special inputs. The unit is fully reprogrammable with access to microprocessor debugging interface, GPIOs, and breakout pins.

Devices can hold a charge significantly longer than with a backlit LCD when a reflective LCD is used, which can be lit with a Azumo front light panel. With a reflective display, the device can use the sun or other ambient light. Devices can be sunlight-readable and efficient outdoors. And for indoor and lower light conditions, the included Azumo front light panel offers a slim, power-efficient single-LED light guide film.

The dev kits are available with reflective Memory-in-Pixel displays by Sharp, with sizes ranging from 1” to 4.4”. Though, they’re capable of driving virtually all memory LCDs in the 1.1” to 4.4” range.
