EM8900 ULV DC/DC Boost Converter for Thermal Electrical Generators
EM Microelectronics’ EM8900 boost converter is inductive and uses a standard transformer
EM Microelectronics’ EM8900 ULV DC/DC boost converter is designed to start and operate autonomously with an input voltage of 5 mV in the µW to mW range. No additional supply voltage is required to start the DC/DC. This ultra-low voltage operating level allows the use of a thermal electrical generator (TEG) with a low Seebeck coefficient, reducing the mechanical size and cost. The boost converter is inductive and uses a standard transformer.
The EM8900 coupled with the EM8502 offers a complete power management solution including the thermal energy harvesting, the energy storage supervising, and the supply outputs controlling.
- Ultra-low voltage DC/DC operating and starting-up down to VIN= 5 mV
- Fully autonomous system (no need for primary battery)
- Control the supply of the application for an optimal global consumption
- Optimized for low-cost and small TEGs with low Seebeck coefficient
- Compatible with standard transformers
- Adapted to the EM8502 for a complete power management chain solution
- TEG harvesting
- Wearable devices
- Beacons and wireless sensor networks
- Industrial and environmental monitoring
- Battery operated platforms
