DPS3340 Discovery USB-Programmable Power Supply

Digilent's DPS3340 is a USB-based, 3-channel variable DC programmable power supply that allows users to control the power that is provided to external circuits. The constant voltage and constant current modes with built-in readback sensors and optional tracking for the output channels enable the circuits to be powered according to the user's requirements.

Driven by the free WaveForms software (Mac, Linux, and Windows compatible), the power supply can be a standalone product or combined with Digilent's test and measurement devices, acting as its own tool within the WaveForms software, and no external triggers or multiple instances of software required. The DPS3340 has three programmable digital voltage supplies, which can supply a range of 1 V to +5 V at up to 3 A, -1 V to -15 V at up to -500 mA, and 1 V to +15 V at up to 500 mA through the power supplies instrument.

The power-supply rails are associated with an LED on the connector, located above the supply's banana connector, indicating the operating mode of that supply. When a load doesn't require more current than the supply's current limit, the supply operates in constant voltage (CV) mode and the indicator LED is green. When the load tries to draw more current than the current limit, the supply operates in constant current (CC) mode and the LED is red. The WaveForms supplies instrument UI features these LEDs, showing CV mode with a green indicator and CC mode with a red indicator. The channels have integrated readback for voltage and current. The output channels two and three share a common-ground connection, as well as provide optional tracking of the voltage output and current limits through the WaveForms software.
