Cellular technology is an integral part of our communication-heavy lives. As cellular technology has advanced, this has improved our ability to connect people with larger and larger data streams. Cellular has now moved to Business to Business (B2B) and Machine to Machine (M2M) applications, first with Digi International's TransPort® series and now with the XBee Cellular. B2B and M2M applications initially ran on traditional cellular platforms of 2G, 3G and 4G with larger box units, but this was not cost effective because of the higher cost, large size and underutilized data plans. Digi’s XBee Cellular solves these problems with a low cost per unit, very small XBee footprint, and lower cost data plans. The first Cellular release saw a CAT 1 (3G) unit that uses the Verizon network. Future modules will use the AT&T network for the US and LTE-M and NB-IoT for Europe. XBee Cellular comes with the TrustFence™ security program and can be configured with XCTU or remotely with Digi Remote Manager.
