944U High Current Film Capacitor
Cornell Dubilier Knowles' high current film capacitors for DC filtering applications
Cornell Dubilier Knowles' 944U-type film capacitors are specifically designed for use in medium power DC filtering applications. The low inductance internal construction of these capacitors utilizes low loss metallized polypropylene for high ripple current capability. Male terminals have a rugged UL 94VO rated flame retardant plastic case and resin fill. Packaged in low profile cylindrical black plastic cases, these devices have earned the nickname of "hockey puck" style capacitors.
Available in 800 VDC, 1000 VDC, 1200 VDC, and 1400 VDC, capacitance ratings range from 33 µF to 220 µF with rms current ratings up to 75 A at 55°C. The UL94V0 flame retardant case is 84.5 mm in diameter, with mounting flanges at the base. Case heights of 40 mm, 51 mm, and 64 mm are available with M8 threaded stud terminals.
The large diameter, low profile, and low inductance winding gives this package very high current capability. Their high current ratings and robust mounting flanges make them ideal for inverter applications in electric vehicles.
