Bosch Sensortec's BMA580 accelerometer is specially designed for compact devices such as hearables requiring the smallest components. Stylish and minimalistic hearables offer little space for powerful components but this next-generation accelerometer with unique voice activity detection through bone conduction and advanced power mode features is one of the world's smallest acceleration sensors (1.2 mm x 0.8 mm x 0.55 mm). The BMA580 ensures that the microphone is turned on only if necessary to detect voice activity, saving power.
Features
- Voice activity detection: turns on the microphone in hearables according to the vibrations transmitted by bone conduction instead of having an always-on and power-consuming microphone
- User interface features: enables the user interaction with the hearable device such as tapping on the hearable to accept a call
- Power management: detects when hearables have been put away and are not in use and when they are picked up again; this can be turned off accordingly to save power
