AS7421 64-Channel Hyperspectral NIR Sensor

ams OSRAM's sensors feature a 64-channel photodiode matrix

Image of ams OSRAM's AS7421 64-channel Hyperspectral NIR Sensorams OSRAM's AS7421 hyperspectral NIR sensor is a versatile spectrometer-on-a-chip solution that enables near-infrared detection technology for material or substance detection purposes. The technology enables the identification of an object by comparing the measured spectrum with a reference spectrum of an object (say in a lookup table). The sensor can be used to derive the composition of a sample by evaluating the measured spectrum. It can also be used to detect relative changes in the concentration of a component of an object (water for example).

Features
  • 64-channel photodiode matrix
  • Spectral range: 750 nm to 1050 nm (61 wavelengths with 5 nm separation)
  • Integrated NIR LEDs to cover a range from 750 nm to 1050 nm
  • Integrated micro-optics to limit the angle of incidence of the sensor (micro-lens array)
  • 16 independent ADCs with programmable gain and integration time
  • Typical integration time for 64 channel is 262 ms: I²C interface and interrupt
  • Power consumption (typ): 2.5 mA active, 2 µA sleep
  • Module size 6.6 mm x 6 mm x 2.2 mm (OLGA 10 package)
Applications
  • Reflective object spectral sensor for material analysis in home/industrial applications
  • Fabric identification and detection
  • Moisture measurements in industrial, home appliance, and agricultural applications such as controlling the drying process of grain or coffee beans to monitor quality
  • Fruit and foodstuff parameter measurements before and after harvesting
  • Floor-type and moisture detection of surfaces in home and industrial robotics
