A121 Pulsed Coherent Radar Sensor

Acconeer's A121 is a pin-compatible upgraded version of A111 with even lower power consumption, increased performance, and improved data quality. Acconeer plans to have the A121 ready for mass production in early 2023.

The A121 is a radar system based on pulsed coherent radar (PCR) technology with a footprint of 29 mm². The A121 60 GHz radar system is optimized for high precision and ultra-low power delivered as a one-package solution with integrated baseband, RF front-end, and antenna in package (AiP). This enables easy integration into any portable battery-driven device. The A121 60 GHz radar remains uncompromised by any natural source of interference, such as noise, dust, color, and direct or indirect light.

The XE121 evaluation board features an A121 pulsed coherent radar sensor and the possibility to add up to four additional sensors via flex cable to Acconeer’s XS121 radar satellite boards. The XE121 cannot be used stand-alone since it is not equipped with a MCU. It is designed to be compatible with the XC120 connector board, Raspberry Pi, and STM Nucleo-64 or Nucleo-144 development boards.

The XC120 connector board should always be used with the XE121 evaluation board. It features a Cortex®-M7 MCU flashed with the exploration server to stream data from the A121 radar sensor to the Acconeer Exploration Tool.

The XS121 is a small satellite board equipped with an A121 pulsed coherent radar sensor that can be connected to the XE121 evaluation board via flat flexible cable (FFC). It is not possible to operate the XS121 without an XE121 evaluation board.
