Slide-On Heat Sinks

A cost-effective approach from Boyd, these heat sinks do not require mounting hardware (screws, nuts, and more) but rather slide onto the device that requires cooling. The component is unaffected by heat resistance and reduces overall assembly time. Slide-on heat sinks are available in a variety of different sizes and are a solderable slide with integrated tabs. Utilizing this style of heat sink will reduce manufacturing assembly time and overall bill of materials (BOM) due to the lack of mounting components.

They are available in a variety of shapes and sizes, depending on power load to be dissipated. Versions are available for vertical or horizontal mountings with or without solderable tabs. Many include a spring action retention system that improves mounting surface contact and provides superior thermal transfer than conventional hardware mounting methods.
