The Harting Road Show

Our friends at Harting have been cruising the roadways with their very own roadshow truck. At DigiKey, we were happy to see them stop and share what they have to offer us.

While one might expect this box van would be carrying boxes stacked to the ceiling, you would be wrong. When ascending the stairs of this truck it became apparent it was much more special than that. We were met with its bright white interior and product displays that show what is new in the world from the Harting perspective.

While all Digikey employees were welcome, it was useful for our technical staff especially. We were introduced to some product information we may not have been aware of, product advancements, as well as new products.

Harting is known for the different Han series connection types that provide robust connection solutions for combining power, signal, ethernet, fiber, and pneumatics all into one convenient connector. We did see options designed for Class 1/ Division 2 applications, others for lightweight green applications, battery charging and management, and more. The possibilities are endless. This system could be a game changer when looking at industrial applications, robotics, or any place where more than a few lines need to be connected from one thing to another. They have continued to grow this offering and now have an option for a configurable PCB mount option!

They have been into circular connectors for a long time but it was nice to see some advancement with the recently released M17 connector that can perform just as well as its M23 counterpart.

Pushing the industry to move forward a little, Harting has developed the ix connector series. It does for the RJ45 connector what USB C did for USB, and what the Micro HDMI connector did for HDMI. They have even provided networking routers, switches, and more that allow for very dense, but expansive networking solutions.

Sometimes though, pushing forward doesn’t have to be complicated to be extremely effective. Harting has developed the customizable cable orientation networking cable. The VarioBoot series allows the connector on the cable to be adjusted from straight to Up, Down, Left angle, and Right angle within seconds. This could mean a lot of savings.

We also learned that Harting has implemented a new configuration tool for circular connectors on their website. Select the insert and let the tool help you find the back shell/ hood, terminals, tools, seals, etc.

Last but not least, a new AI tool will be released thanks to a collaboration between Harting, Siemens, and Microsoft. This tool will be capable of asking questions about your applications and offering solutions in real time. This was showcased in Chicago earlier this year.

A lot of times offering products to our customers that can provide cutting edge solutions requires that we simply are aware that they exist.

Thank you Harting for helping us to better help our customers!
