Off-the-Board Solutions

What does off-the-board mean to you? In the game world, off-the-board means removing a chess or checker piece off-the-board. In sports wagers, off-the-board means there is uncertainty about the game, so the game is considered off-the-board.

When you look at electronics; the board (i.e. circuit board) is the heart of the application. However, that heart cannot pump without an off-the-board solution, which are the arteries of the application. This can consist of many different types of cable assembly solutions or the connector that would plug into the device.

Looking at my docking station and the modem that I’m using, along with a laptop I’ve been pulling apart (images below), these devices wouldn’t work without those off-the-board solutions. They would merely be a nonfunctioning box.

Here are some off-the-board products we offer, with many more on our website:

Rectangular Cable Assemblies

USB Cables

Video Cables (DVI, HDMI)

Coaxial Cables (RF)

Barrel – Audio Cables

D-Subs Cables

Modular Cables

Circular Cables

Fiber Optic Cables

Sensor Cable Assemblies

Between Series Cables

Controllers – Cable Assemblies

A lot of time and planning goes into the board process, but unfortunately, off-the-board is more of an after-thought. Remember, the board is the tip of the iceberg. A vital function of the circuit board is to easily connect to different parts of the device. Whatever the case may be for your solution, DigiKey has you covered for all of your off-the-board solutions and much more.
