Scheme-it Schematic of Dual Port Auto Charger
This design utilizes TPS2511, a USB-dedicated charging port controller and current limiting power switch, and TPS40170 synchronous PWM buck controller with a wide-input voltage. The TPS2511 USB power switch offers the data line control to charge many devices. It supports both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 power switch requirements. This design complies the UL 2089 and ANSI/SAE J563 standard for small form-factor. It features 8V to 60V (12V nominal) input voltage and 5V/4.2A output with TPS40170 and meets BC1.2 for DCP standard with one TPS2511 per port.
This reference design is made specifically for automotive applications like vehicle USB power chargers. It can also be used in other applications such as AC-DC wall adapters with USB ports and other USB chargers.
