Along with integrated PGAs, the MCP3903 contains an internal voltage reference to further reduce the external component count. The voltage reference features low temperature drift at 5 pmm/°C. The MCP3903 has an adjustable sample rate of up to 64ksps. A special current boost mode is used for this high frequency sample rate; lower sample frequencies operate at lower currents. The dithering block on the MCP3903 injects pseudo-random noise which in effect scrambles the conversion process. The result is improved linearity and removal of spurious signals and correlated noise.
